Online poker is great for those of us who don’t always have the time for a live game, or when we want the anonymity, table selection, and speed of a virtual game. Ever since online poker boomed in the 1990s, our choices have grown from a few dozen to several hundred—as of 2010, there were 545 active sites, according to PokerScout.com. Here’s a look at some of the highest-rated online casino websites:

Party Poker: With some 10,000 players logged on at peak hours, Party Poker is no doubt one of the biggest online poker sites—and for good reason. It’s particularly famous for its scheduled tournaments, especially the monthly $1 million tournament with buy-in costs around $600. Its sheer size also allows it to offer interesting promotions year-round, although some of them are decidedly too complicated to interest new members.

888 Poker: If you’re just starting out, you’ll like the relatively lenient competition at 888 Poker. With practice you can earn a fair bit of profit, although the rake structure, far from being the best on the Web, can eat away at your earnings if you’re not careful. That being said, the site has a lot more to offer, from a generous first-time deposit bonus to an attractive bad beat jackpot. The software’s also come a long way—they’ve gotten rid of the initial bugs and now offer 3D icons, webcam support, and multi-language translation.

Poker770: Part of the huge iPoker network, Poker770 is the go-to place for promotions. Not all of them are worth your time, but once in a while you’ll come across something interesting. The general skill level is average, with the small- to medium-stake games offering pretty soft competition. Larger games present more of a challenge for those who like a little more risk. Their tournaments can sometimes send you off to live events such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP), so it’s great for serious players as well.

Betfair Poker: UK-based website Betfair Poker runs on the Ongame Network, after separating from Cryptologic and a brief stint as a standalone site. The change means that players have a lot more choice and flexibility. If you’ve played on Ongame before, you may have come across a few bad players, but the overall skill level is average. Small-stakes tournaments seem to be its strong suit; like Poker770, the competition isn’t very tough and the guaranteed prize pool of $10,000 allows you to build a decent bankroll.

How many westerns can you name where the hero exacts sweet revenge on the bad guys by bluffing his way to the jackpot?

Bluffing is to poker what music is to a movie: you can do without it, but it won’t be half as fun. And anyone who’s played more than a few games of poker can attest to, it’s the kind of skill that’s easy to learn but takes forever to master. In online poker, where there are no bodily cues to give you away, bluffing takes even more work. Here’s how you can improve your bluffing online and get closer to mastering the game.

Spotting bluffs

People bluff a lot more in online poker simply because it’s easier. Your opponent can’t see you working up a sweat from across the Atlantic, so he has to rely on what he knows about you, and vice versa. Generally, if a player makes the same unusual bet more than a few times, calling it with the next-best pair would be a good move—but betting patterns alone don’t tell the whole story. The best players are able to create betting patterns that lead you off track; the least experienced ones have no patterns and simply wing it. So start by getting to know your opponent based on their last few plays.

Why people bluff

Bluffing serves two main purposes in poker: winning the pot and making the most of bigger hands later on. If you bluff only at pots with good cards, chances are there won’t be many calls when you actually have a good hand. Of course, that applies to games where the players are more involved and more experienced—some players, especially in lower-limit games, just don’t have a good enough feel of the game to spot a bluff. Or they might just be distracted by other things, which means there’s no logic to their decisions, no way to tell whether they’ll call or not.

How to bluff

Now let’s get to the main idea: how to bluff online. Most experts recommend that you limit bluffing to just one or two online opponents, so you’ll have time to analyze their game. Bluffing several players at a time would spread your efforts too thin, and one of them is bound to call at some point. And if you’ve got a pot with a dozen calls, bluffing is pretty much out of the question.

The semi-bluff

A good trick to practice is the semi-bluff, which many pros swear by. A semi-bluff is when you raise or bet with a hand that isn’t the best, but just might beat out everyone’s hand. It’s a bluff because you bet with no hand, but since it’s not nothing either, it’s not a pure bluff. Semi-bluffs work because you have two ways of winning: your opponent could fall for it, or you could make your draw and end up having the best hand. It’s also harder for opponents to spot, especially online—although that means you may come across some semi-bluffers yourself!

The game of Texas holdem is considered to be the most popular form of poker in casinos and card rooms across the world. Holdem is well loved in North America, Europe and of course, online.

The popularity of Texas holdem has increased throughout the 20th century but this poker game ultimately became a sensation in the 2000s because of its widespread TV, online and literature exposure. You can play poker online as there are websites which offer free Texas holdem games for everyone to enjoy.

Before Texas Holdem Poker, 7 Card Stud was the most played poker in U.S. casinos. Unlike other poker variants such as draw or stud in which every competitor possesses a separate hand, Texas holdem has each player allowed to use any combination of the five of the shared cards or community cards plus the player’s own two face-down or hole cards in order to create a poker hand.

What makes Texas holdem more enticing is that each player is allowed to bet as much as they want without limit in the “no limit”version of this game. Due to this intriguing strategy, television shows have popped up to cover main events such as the World Series of Poker or WSOP and the World Poker Tour or WPT. Its straightforwardness and simplicity had also given inspiration to numerous strategy books that give guidelines and tips on how to play it best.

The game is played by having each of the players hold only two cards with the rest of the cards being shared. It is quite advantageous to play the game with relatively few hands and in the process betting and raising frequently utilizing the hands being played. Now, does that not make you want to take your chances in a game of free Texas holdem?

The pot is what entices each of the players like all variants of poker do. All players compete for the pot or the amount of money that is provided by all the players themselves. Since the cards are randomly played and beyond the control of all the competitors, every competitor or player makes an effort to be in power of the amount of money with the hand he or she holds.

Only one player wins in a free Texas holdem game through a series of hands or deals. The showdown is the grand finale of the game in which the remaining players compare their hands with that of the other players and the player with the highest hand typically wins the pot. A tie can also occur in a free Texas holdem in which case both winners share the pot. Another possibility can also occur during the deciding part of a hand which is when all the competitors except one have folded and have thus dumped whichever claims to the pot. Here, the pot is awarded to the player who has not folded.

What makes a game of free Texas Holdem an admirable one is the fact that besides the possibility of winning a big pot, each competitor is also forced to make mathematically correct and accurate decision-making strategies in order to succeed.

How to play Texas hold’em poker is a question many player’s ask when starting out. You can go to Google and type in how to play Texas hold’em poker and learn all the rules quickly, but what good does that really do you? Let me give you a piece of advice this old man once told me at the poker table. It takes 10 minutes to learn the rules of poker, but a lifetime to master. Think about it, you can learn the poker rules in 10 minutes, but it takes a lifetime to master poker. I have been playing for over 20 years and I still learn new things everyday. Every bit of experience you can notch under your belt is golden. I started out playing Texas hold’em poker limit using my Texas hold’em poker odds calculator. Now it’s a great poker tool to learn the correct poker odds and which hands to play and which hands not to when starting out. Sometimes if you do not have the odds of winning the hand and you have a gut feeling, sometimes you just have to go with that feeling.

Texas hold’em is a great game and you will constantly win by playing the odds, having some luck, studying the game, and playing as much poker and gaining as much experience as you can. Experience is irreplaceable. What I did to gain experience was start out by playing online poker freerolls to win online Texas hold’em free. Basically by playing online poker freerolls you can win lots of free money. Many sites such as fulltilt poker and poker stars offer poker freerolls for all types of players free of charge. Sometimes they offer $100.00 for first place out of 1000 people that create a play money account. I was lucky because I am one of those 1 in 1000 people that actually won first place in one of these online poker tournaments. I remember it clearly because it was July 21st, 2004. Right when I won it said congratulations you have received 100 bucks for your first place victory.

I was stoked and I have never looked back since. What I did with this 100 bucks is start out by playing 5 dollar sit n go’s to increase my bankroll. My poker players make a huge mistake by jumping into cash games aka ring games as soon as they jump into online poker games. This is where players go wrong. You need to think outside the box and put cash games aside for now. You don’t want to risk losing your whole bankroll in one hand. For inexperienced players, sit n go’s are the absolute best thing you could ever play. Not only do you gain so much experience, you can only lose the buy in of the sit and go if you lose. In poker you will run into bad beats, the way you win is if you survive these bad beats and make a profit.

I honestly wish you the best of luck at the poker tables and good luck if it is your first time playing online. It is definitely the way to go!

Texas Hold ‘em has become one of the most popular poker games around in the last few years. People really seem to love the concepts of it. There are tournaments all over the place too in communities and on the internet. Many people enter these competitions but not everyone can walk away a winner. Understanding some of the Texas Hold ‘em poker winning strategies though can help to turn that around for you.

Since you need high cards in order to win a hand of Texas Hold ‘em, you want to make sure each of your hands is as strong as it can be. You can hold out if you think you may be able to get the flop. You want to play as aggressively as you can with this type of poker. Those that are conservative and reserved will find that they don’t do as well as they would like. Making changes to such behaviors though can prove to be a very rewarding strategy for Texas Hold ‘em.

If you want to make as much money as you can, there are Texas Hold ‘em poker winning strategies for this as well. For example you will want to play your strong hands as well as pairs early. Get into the habit of doing so before the flop occurs. This way there will be more money in the pot for you to walk away with at the end of the hand.

You do want to be careful though of suited flops because your opponents can make a flush out of them. You also need to make sure you aren’t predictable in your moves. You can be sure those you play Texas Hold ‘em with are going to be watching your behaviors. This is all part of their strategy. If they are successfully able to predict what you are going to do all the time then they are going to beat you.

However, if you are taking risks now and then it shakes things up. They won’t know what move you are likely to make. That means they have to focus on their own movements. You should do your best to watch others behaviors as well. Just don’t get into the habit of relying solely upon this information to determine which of the many Texas Hold ‘em poker winning strategies you are going to use.

It is going to take time for you to successfully implement various Texas Hold ‘em poker winning strategies. Have fun with learning them and then taking action. You will likely find a combination of various ones are what you need in order to make it work well for you. Once you have a good understanding of various Texas Hold ‘em poker winning strategies though you will be able to increase your chances of finding yourself at the winners table at the end of the tournament.

No matter what limit of Texas Hold’em you want to buy in at, it is important to remember not to get in over your head. Poker play is largely about discipline and if you lose it, it will cost you your bankroll in the long run. A bankroll is what poker players refer to as their available money that they have allocated towards playing poker. It is important that you also know how to manage your bankroll properly.

When a player does not manage their money properly, they will be much more likely to end up with no many in their pockets compared to a person that knows how they should be managing their money.

It does not matter if you are buying in small stakes, or high stakes every player should only invest up to a certain percentage of their bankroll into one table or tournament at a time. This could also be changed to having a set number of buy-ins. For amateur players, it is typically wise to have at least 15 buy-ins. This means that if you are waiting to play 11+1 sit n gos, then you are going to need at least 180 dollars to be managing your money properly. Pro’s like to have even more than 15 buy-ins to work with.

Many of you are wondering why in the world you would need to have 15 times what your going to buy-in for. This is because although poker takes a lot of skill to win at, there is also luck in the game. Players are never going to win and can even hit a bad string of luck. Fifteen buy-ins makes sure that your bankroll is able to sustain the swings that occur in poker. With proper bankroll management, you can dramatically increase your chances of winning on the tables in the long run.

The most popular online poker game in play today is Texas Hold’Em poker. Along with Omaha poker, this community card game was the first poker variation to be played in the history of internet poker. Today, Texas Hold’Em remains a fixture on the virtual poker scene and an anchor in the world of poker. As a fan favorite, the game has attracted players from all over the world who enjoy playing it as a free poker game, a real money game, and a high stakes poker tournament.

In order to play these different Texas Hold’Em variations successfully, players must not only have a firm grasp of the poker rules, but also have the ability to put critical poker tips into play. Tips range in difficulty level from those appropriate for beginners all the way to the professional end of the scale. In order to fully understand the concept behind Texas Hold’Em tips, players must rigorously practice the tips until they are mastered and smoothly incorporated into a player’s poker strategy. Poker tips can give players the edge in tight competitions, and have the power to propel a player from an average to an excellent playing level.

The most common of all Texas Hold’Em tips is bluffing. Bluffing is deceiving other players into thinking something false about a player’s hand. Players use bluffing when they want to intimidate other players into either folding their cards or raising the bets, or when they have either a terrible hand or an excellent hand and don’t want their competitors to know that fact. Bluffing is basically giving opponents the wrong idea about the strength of weakness of one’s hand, and is performed through adjustments in both betting and behavior.

Although bluffing is the most infamous Texas Hold’Em strategy, managing the task requires practice and experience. While learning to bluff, players can also take the chance to study more concrete tips, like how to play from position. The position of a player is where the player is seated at the table when they play poker. Players sitting in the first few seats on the dealer’s left are called “early players” in the game because they are the first to bet in each round. The players at the end of the table are called “late players.”

Players must develop a flexible playing style that shifts slightly depending on position. If in an early position, players must keep in mind that the bets that they make may be raised by later players. Early players should play strong hands regularly, and weak hands should be bet on with caution or even checked, passing the action to the next player.

Another important tip is the fold. Folding, or forfeiting one’s cards, can be a powerful weapon as it enables players to withdraw from risky poker gambling situations. Folding should not be seen as a weakness, but rather as a move that elongates a player’s time in a game, buying opportunities to play as others are eliminated.

There are all kinds of Texas Holdem poker strategy idea out there that players swear by. While many of them will work some of the time, they won’t always hold water. No matter how good a Texas Holdem poker strategy happens to be, the fact is a little luck will come into play. There are, however, some Texas Holdem poker strategy suggestions that can help players put the odds in their favor.

Some basic Texas Holdem poker strategy suggestions include:

·	Learning to watch the cards: This Texas Holdem poker strategy suggestion works for almost any game of poker. Watching the cards to see what’s been dealt can help you figure the odds for needed cards coming up. This Texas Holdem poker strategy can help dictate betting, call and folding actions.

·	Learning to watch people: This Texas Holdem poker strategy is a very important one to follow. Since the community cards will make up the majority of a player’s hand, there’s not much to hide. But, if the two hole cards are really good, some players will find it hard to resist a smile or some other obvious gesture that can give it away.

·	Learning to bluff: Players who are really good at this Texas Holdem poker strategy increase their chances for getting players with good hands to bow out of the game. Those who bluff well can win with absolutely nothing if they manage to scare other players off.

·	Learning how to bet. When learning Texas Holdem poker strategy, betting is vital. When players bet too aggressively, they tip their hat. Unless this is part of a well-played bluff, it can scare people off too early and cut down on the size of the pot. This move can backfire, too, when players think you’re bluffing. They might call you for the use of this Texas Holdem poker strategy and make you be the one to pay up. Sometimes it’s better to call to keep others in the game, or even to lessen your own investment in the pot. Knowing which technique to use and when can serve as a very good Texas Holdem poker strategy.

·	Knowing when to fold: One of the hardest Texas Holdem poker strategy ideas to grasp is learning when to call it a hand. Sometimes there’s just no way to pull off a win and putting any more money into the pot is foolish. Good players know when to employ this Texas Holdem poker strategy to lessen their losses.

Texas Holdem is one of the most popular games going on the poker scene today. With lots of fast action and great pot possibilities, this game can be a little hard on the wallet to master. Grasping Texas Holdem poker strategy can help make wins possible and lessen the losses.

Perhaps the most exciting play in all of Texas Hold’em poker, is when a player makes the bold choice to go All In with their chips. To go All In means that you put all your chips into the pot as your bet. If you win the hand, you will have at least doubled your chip count, or perhaps much more than that if several players decide to call you by going All In themselves. Many SitNGo tournaments have 9-10 players in them, so you could potentially make 10X your money or more on a strong All In move.

However, if you lose the hand, you are out of the game, and your money is gone for good. So it is really a suspenseful moment when someone moves all their chips into the center of the table, claiming to have the best hand, and daring anyone to call them on this move. But the question I get most from a lot of new players is, ‘How do I know when I should go all in?’ I will attempt to answer that question in this article to the best of my ability.

The first rule I always use when determining whether or not I should go all in, is that I must determine whether or not I have an actual chance of winning if I am called. It does not necessarily mean that I must have the best hand in order to make this move, I just need to make sure I have a shot. Many players go All In pre-flop with two off suited low number cards, such as a 4-8, and hope to bluff everyone out of the small blind betted pot. That in my opinion is idiotic, because the person sitting across from you with two Aces is going to call you, and you will inevitably be out of the game.

After determining whether or not I have a decent shot at winning the pot, I try to evaluate my opponents. Will it be worth it to me to take such a risk? Is the pot big enough to try buying? Will anyone chase me into this trap I am setting by calling me? These are all questions you have to answer before playing like a cowboy and pushing your chip stack towards the center.

Remember to keep a wide perspective of the game. What are the chances that another player could hold a higher hand? Remember to include how many players there are, since fewer players increases your chances of winning. What will happen if you do not win the hand? How bad of a shape will you be in? Will you be out, or will you simply lose a large portion of your stack to another player?

Also, what do you stand to gain? Are you in a heads up situation, where winning the hand would declare you the winner of the game? Or is it the 3rd hand in the game, and losing will cause you to walk away with little to show for it. Remember that going All In is not always the best option. Sometimes a bold 50% raise is all you need to take down a big pot.

Texas holdem training software is a great way to get a lot of experience playing texas hold em poker and learning various texas holdem strategies without losing tons of money. You can gain a lot of knowledge about texas holdem by reading and I highly recommend you do so.

There are some great resources out there for learning the rules, the hand rankings, and various texas holdem strategies. It’s well worth reading these materials. But to really ingrain the game in your head you need to practice these strategies. And it would be nice to do this without losing all your money. That’s where texas holdem training software comes into play.

Years ago, poker players didn’t have these types of training tools. But now, with the advances in technology and things like artificial intelligence, some of these training tools can really improve your poker playing ability without risking any of your own cash. Your computer opponents “learn” your playing style and adapt to it, making it tougher for you and forcing you to adapt and try new things, just like in a real poker game.

Another great thing about poker training software is the ability to practice a variety of strategies over and over again in the same situation.

Do you struggle with medium pairs like a pair of sevens?

Are you unsure what to bet and how long to stay in a hand when you get a potentially powerful starting hand like Ace Queen?

With training software you can play that same hand over and over again and test out different texas holdem poker tips so you can actually experience the effectiveness of various ideas. Want to know what happens when you make a big first bet with a pair of sevens? Play fifty hands in a row that way.

Another great thing about this software today is how quickly you can play a lot of hands. You can play about ten times (or more) as many hands in an hour with software as you could sitting down at a poker table.

If you want to improve your texas hold em poker you should really consider getting some texas holdem training software and spending a lot of time practicing various poker strategies and learning the game before risking any real money.
