If you’re an avid poker player, you’ve probably entertained the idea of having your own professional poker table, the kind you see in casinos and tournaments. But most of us have neither the room nor the budget for it. Besides, with prices easily going over the $1,000 mark, it’s a bit much to pay for a hobby.

That’s where folding card tables come in. Smaller, lighter, and much more affordable, they’re ideal for casual to semi-serious players who just want to have a place to themselves when friends come over to play, and the option to stash it away when needed. If you have weekly games with a group of friends, you can even bring the table along. That can’t be said about those thousand-dollar tables!

Construction is the main difference between traditional and folding card tables. The whole point of a folding unit is portability, so you’ll want to check for lightweight wood and storage options. A good table will fit under your bed or behind a cabinet when folded. Of course, there’s a trade-off in durability—pro tables can last well over a decade if properly cared for, while folding ones can be made of lighter wood or even plastic. And while pro tables can have room for drinks, poker chips, and other add-ons, you can’t expect as much from a folding one.

When choosing a folding poker table, consider the size of the games you usually play. You want something slightly larger than your average game size, so you’ll have some wiggle room without sacrificing storability. Large tables should have a support bar so they don’t dip and cause cards and chips to pool in the center. If you’re planning on bringing drinks and snacks along, go for a plastic or metal table—it’s easier to clean and doesn’t stain as easily as wood.

Finally, decide on the look you want. Style is a more important factor than you think when it comes to poker tables. For one thing, although square or rectangular tables take up less space, round ones are more advisable because all the players can face each other at once. Many are designed after the traditional green velvet style, which may or may not fit in with your décor. If that’s an issue, go for a more neutral wood table. It’ll look better in a living room or dining room, and if you keep it assembled, it can double as a breakfast nook or coffee table.

With multiple media appearances from shows such as ESPN, poker has become an extremely popular pastime with the general public and it’s not difficult to see why. Not only is it a great way to get together with your friends, but it’s also fun to play as well. While there are many reasons to get folding poker tables, the following are just 3 of them.

1. You don’t want to play on your coffee table anymore
Playing on a coffee table can be extremely uncomfortable to play on and most of the time it just doesn’t feel the same. If this is you, then this is perhaps one of the biggest reasons to get a professional poker top for a relatively low price as the differences are huge.

2. You want to impress your friends
If you are going to host game night, then you better make sure that you are well prepared as having moody friends can ruin the night. Expect to spend at least $50 on a quality poker table that has slots for your chips and cup holders for your drinks.

3. Having that realistic poker feel
One final reason to get a folding poker table is that not only are they portable and convenient, but they also provide that realistic poker feel that you can’t get anywhere else without having to go to a casino. Once you get one, you’ll feel immediately feel comfortable and at ease.

These are just some of the reasons to get folding poker tables and are definitely not limited to these alone. Be sure to always deal with a reputable seller and to check online retail stores for finding the best discounts.

By: Ryan J.
With the introduction of poker on television most people are familiar with hold’em or oval style poker tables. The reason for this type of table is due to the number of players that need to be seated to play Texas Hold’em.

Round style tables don’t usually accommodate ten players but many are designed for eight players. They do have the advantage of making it easy for any one player to deal to any other player. When playing at an oval style table it can be difficult for a player on one end to pass to a player on the opposite end of the table. With a round style table it doesn’t matter where you are sitting it is easy to deal to other players.

Another advantage is placement in the room. Oftentimes, it can be easier to place a round style table in the corner of a room as opposed to a larger oval style table. This is convenient for those who like keeping the table out, but don’t want to give it a prominent spot in the room.

In addition, these types of tables are very good for friendly casual games as it makes it easy for everyone to talk and converse around the table.

Some round tables come with dining tops or covers that enable you to use the table for daily use in addition to your occasional poker game.

Two other great features are cup holders and chip racks. Cup holders let you safely keep your drink at the table. Chip racks can be embedded into the table itself. This makes for a great spot to keep your chips neatly positioned yet out of the way.

By: Geoffrey Moore

About the Author:

One of the biggest concerns individuals have about purchasing a poker table online is the shipping. Most people are familiar with shipping and receiving small packages via Fedex or UPS. Shipping via freight has some different rules. Even though less than 98% of shipments arrive with damages it is important to note a few things you can do to make it easier for both the merchant and the purchaser to have a successful transaction.

The first is that you must actually sign upon receipt of the table. Unlike other packages where the delivery person will drop it off with freight you must actually sign.

Second, once you sign for the item you own it. It is vitally important that you fully inspect the table for any defects or damage on the packaging. If you casually sign and later notice damage you will be stuck with a damaged piece of merchandise.

Further, if you do find damage and want to refuse shipment note the damage on the paper and have the driver initial it as well. The driver can act as an independent 3rd party to insure any claim can be verified.

Lastly, if you do receive a damaged item promptly alert your merchant so they can contact the freight company and promptly send you a replacement.

As a finale note damage incidents tend to be higher around December 25th. Shipping companies are in a major rush to try and push everything through and they tend to be a little less careful. If you plan on making a big purchase it is best to send it in early December or wait until after January 1st to minimize the chance of receiving damaged goods.

By: Geoffrey Moore

About the Author:

Often referred to as the his and hers poker table, one of the most innovative tables is the furniture poker table with a dining top. Hold’em style poker tables can be large and difficult to find a place to put. They typically start at $1,000 and go up in price very quickly. Fortunately, manufacturers have solved this problem by creating tables with a removable dining top. During the everyday family life the table can be used just like any other kitchen table. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can all be enjoyed effortlessly.

Underneath the top lies a felt surface and any other special details for poker night whenever someone wants to simply lift off the top.

Another great feature of this type of table is that the felt is typically removable. Since you are making such a major investment in the furniture it is nice to know that if someone spills a drink or pulls over some greasy pizza the top can be easily replaced with minimal confusion and cost.

This often works as a great compromise for those with limited space to devote to tables or who want to really maximize their dollar.

What is also interesting is that compared to regular dining tables some poker tables with dining tops can actually be less expensive.

Finally, furniture poker tables may seem expensive at first, but by the time you factor in the life expectancy of a table like this you can actually come out ahead if you play poker often. The tables are typically painted with several layers of paint to preserve the wood and with the replacement felts it can be much more affordable than replacing mid-range poker tables over and over.

By: Geoffrey Moore

About the Author:

Are you looking for a great cover for your poker table? The Green Poker Table Felt Cloth is made of the same quality material casinos use and boy we know the use they get! These wool blend cloths are sold by the linear yard so if you want 3 units, you will get a piece of cloth that is 3 yards or 9 feet by 59 inches wide. This durable felt cloth is utilized for its endurance to wear and tear.

If you’re poker table is lacking a little something, or maybe it’s just getting old and you need to replace the felt cloth area, then this is probably is right for you. You and your poker buddies spend hours playing in your game room so you already know about drink and snack spills. Maybe your felt cloth has been damaged and has cuts or openings that have worn through? Or, was that all too cool felt cloth you got in the first place not good quality? Whatever the reason, it’s time for you to get your poker table back in shape.

The very popular green felt on this felt is not only easy on the eye, but as a traditional felt cover it’s easy on the card-eye. Not too bright, you and your friends and family will be able to easily see all the cards on the table. Whether it’s Texas Holdem or the ever-popular five-card draw, everyone will have a good view of table play.

The quality of the felt cloth is what makes this special, ideal and, easy to place. As we said, it is constructed with the durable wool similar to that in use at large casinos. Look at all the wear the casinos get on their tables. Why not have that reassurance at home? Plus, you probably spent a lot of money on that poker table when you first bought it. Why not dress it back up and take the dullness out of your game room you might have from that damaged poker felt top?

Or, perhaps you have a brand new poker table and aren’t pleased with the quality of the top it came with. Sure the table’s fine and the right size, but you just can’t get over that felt top! this product will rid you of those worries. Fitting your custom poker table with this felt cloth is also easy since you measure and you order how many linear yards you need.

Don’t listen to your friends who have taken their spouse’s advice who have tried to recover their poker table on their own. After all, you’ve seen it-did it come out cool? Or did the spouse really mess it up with the wrong choice of material and color? Whatever the reason, the Green Poker Table Felt Cloth will solve all your problems, bring envy from your friends and keep your poker table alive for many, many games of poker-play.

By: Brian Garvin

About the Author:

In casinos, poker is played on specially designed tables called poker tables. These tables look like billiards tables in structure. Such tables come in all the basic shapes: rectangular, oval, and pentagonal. Poker table supplies are available in shops in United States for playing poker at home. But one should be careful when selecting a table. Cheap tables generally turn out to be of low quality. Such tables do not last very long. Even in the rare occasions in which such tables last, there will be irritating patchworks that keep appearing on the table over time. So if one wants to enjoy a good game of poker at home, it is better to spend a bit more money and buy a good quality table.

Poker tables are available in many varieties. Some come with multiple stands, while some kind of tables will only have the tabletops. One has to mount the tops on top of some other structure such as a dining table. For playing poker at home, such tables are a must. There are plenty of poker fans who conduct what they call a “home season” of poker, which are entirely played at homes. People of such serious interest in poker often find that poker table is something very hard to live without. Another way of having a “home season” of poker is constructing a table at the home itself using poker table supplies.

Making an ordinary, basic poker table is said to be as easy (but not that easy when actually tries it) as any other carpentry work like making a normal table. Many shops provide poker table supplies such as a detailed plan and other materials needed for the construction of a table. The designs for constructing these tables are available on the internet for free. These free designs are generally rectangular, oval, and pentagonal structures. There are some other websites, which provide fancier designs of these tables at a reasonable price.

For constructing a table using these designs one needs carpentry tools like jigsaw, drill, and sand paper. It is almost impossible to construct a table single-handedly. One should arrange somebody as a helper before starting the construction. One needs raw material like wood, plywood, fabric, and rubber foam for making a good table that will be worth the effort. One can also make only the top of the table for home use. It is more than enough for occasional games. However, one should be warned that making a table at home is not an easy task, despite the claims to the contrary. People who do not have an interest in doing carpentry related mechanical work may find it extremely cumbersome. So if you are carpentry-challenged, it is better to head straight to a shop and bring home a ready made poker table.

By: Robert Grazian

About the Author:

You may think it’s a gigantic task and that you can never really accomplish it on your own but really, building a poker table is a fairly easy undertaking. Of course, you should not expect that it would be as perfectly done or as flawless as those expensive ones sold in furniture stores and gaming shops, yet if you just follow the steps carefully and execute the plan with utmost precision, you can actually make a fine poker table that you can be proud of.

Building a poker table doesn’t require much craftsmanship or skills in carpentry. With only the most basic knowledge of handling tools, it would be enough to start constructing your own poker table from scratch.

Step-By-Step Guide

1. Planning

Before you do the actual work, you have to formulate a plan; this will guide you throughout the entire process. In the planning section, decide on the dimension you want your poker table to be. Try to look at the common dimensions of poker tables and estimate how many people or players you would like the table to cater to. For instance, you can have a “96 inches by 42 inches” table which is ideal for home games and could seat about 11 to 12 people. You can also choose from among the different types of poker tables. Do you want it to be six-sided, eight-sided or perhaps resemble a Texas Hold’em type? The choice is yours, you just have to be sure of your every decision and one way of doing this is to have an idea of what to build. Gather first some information regarding the types of poker tables and which one would be the best for your home and lifestyle.

2. Preparing the materials and tools

After you have ascertained the measurement and physical aspects of your table, next is you should prepare all necessary materials, tools and hardware. The materials depend on your preferences but it is suggested to consider the quality and grade of materials such as the wood, foam and padding before buying. Try to ascertain what materials are available in your local hardware stores and select the finest and most reasonably priced.

The primary materials you should prepare prior to construction are: plywood or hardwood, folding table, foam padding, poker cloth and railing padding. You should also have the following tools and hardware available: staples and staple gun, wood screws, screwdriver, pencil, string, scissors, tape measure, sandpaper, adhesive, jigsaw/circle saw, and countersunk finish and flat washers.

3. Cutting the Wood

With the aid of the circular saw, cut the plywood into the appropriate length and width. To create the perfect oval shape, locate the exact division of the width and length. In the exact center, mark the radius of the arcs for each end. Using a string and a screw, create a sort of a compass and mark with a pencil to draw semicircles on each end of the plywood. Using a jigsaw, cut along the arcs to make a rounded rectangle like the one in the picture above.

4. Attaching the plywood to the folding table

With five screws or more, attach the newly cut plywood onto the folding table by drilling holes at symmetrical intervals and affixing the screws. You may use another wood here in between to give more allowance for the screw depending on the folding table you have. Just make sure that the legs fold up properly after the two pieces are attached. Also, put the folding table at the very middle in such a way that it supports the center and doesn’t make the whole structure wobbly and unbalanced.

5. Upholstering the surface

Before you lay and cover the plywood with foam, you should first sand the edges to make them rounder as well as the top surface where you pierced the wood with the screws. Then, you can spray the top of the table with adhesive and lay the foam padding onto it. Spray adhesives generally have some special application procedures, so be sure to read the spray’s instructions before starting. Completely cover the table with foam and trim along the edges so that only a small amount of foam is left hanging.

Place the felt or poker cloth on the floor and flip the table over on top of it. Pull the cloth as tight as possible and staple it to the bottom edge of the plywood. It is important to pull the cloth as tight as possible so you won’t have a baggy and coarse finish. Lastly, attach the rail by wrapping around the table and using screws to attach it together with the finish and flat washers. That basically wraps it up.

Surely, you never thought for a minute you could ever do something like that, did you? It’s really easy once you get the hang of it. By building your own poker table, you not only save a great deal of money but you also practice and develop your creativity and resourcefulness. What’s more, you can certainly appreciate this piece of furniture more as it was made and created by your own hands. Your friends and poker buddies, without a doubt, would look at you in a different light if you tell them that the table you use was forged from your own sweat and efforts.

By: Brian Garvin

About the Author:

Are you someone who takes their poker playing very seriously? Even if you do not live near the casinos, you will find that you can still get a great game going with friends and family members in the comfort of your own home. If you love the idea of a game of poker that is almost professional happening in your rec room or basement, you will find that the poker table that you buy is going to reflect this.

One of the most important things that will affect the way that your poker table looks is your poker tables felt. The poker tables felt that is used on your poker table will change everything from the way that the poker table can be designed to the way that the cards slide across it, so consider what you need to know.

If cost is something that is on your mind and if you are interested in spending the bare minimum of money, then you should go with the generic felt. Generic felt is what is used on most at home poker tables and the issue is that it is not as durable and smooth as speed cloth, which is your other option.

When you use generic felt, you will find that in many cases, you are going to need to stop and replace it after a few years of play. This can actually remove the benefit of the cheaper cloth entirely. Take a moment to really think about what kind of investment you want to make in your poker table and how long you are going to be using it.

The next option that you have when you are looking at poker tables felt is speed cloth. Speed cloth is the felt that is used by professional casinos, and if you have ever dealt cards on it, you can tell the difference. With generic felt, the cards will tend to flop on to the table or to even get snagged as you slide them to the player who needs them, and this is something that does not happen with speed cloth. Speed cloth can enhance the look and even the timing of your game and it is definitely a pleasure to deal cards across it.

Another thing that you need to consider when you are thinking about getting poker tables felt is what your options are going to be when you are thinking about having something printed on it. With speed cloth, you can get amazingly clear images printed on to it, and the images will remain sharp.

Whether you want to something extravagant printed on your table or you just like the idea of having a tasteful meaningful image on your table, this is what you should look for. Also remember that suited speed cloth simply means poker tables felt that has the suits of the cards printed on it. Are you ready to create a gorgeous poker environment for your friends? If so, look into how the poker tables felt that you choose affects your decision.

By: Brian Garvin

About the Author:

How far would you go to make your Mini-Casino at home look like the real thing? Well, we love the feedback we get from doing this since no one else around has anything like it. So of course, we need to have the top quality furniture, tables, poker chips, slot machines, and all give off that appeal that says, “We’re the best in town.” It’s always great to hear how much someone loves the layout of our Home Poker Room.

It all starts with the Texas Holdem Poker Table With Dealer Slot. Each weekend we hire a friend to be our dealer for the evening. He comes dressed in black pants, white shirt, with a bow tie and red vest. He definitely looks like he’s straight out of the movies from Ocean’s Eleven or something when he’s sitting on that side of the Custom Poker Table. Best of all everything works the same when you play at one of these Big Poker Tables.

As soon as a player sits down to our Texas Holdem Poker Table With Dealer Slot, he takes out a wad of cash in order to purchase Poker Chips from the dealer. The starting point, on average, is probably about $50 each game winner takes all, but there are some of our buddies who come over and want to play for a couple hundred towards the end of the evening. It’s crazy sometimes, but no one pouts if they lose or anything. Even though some of them are addicted for sure and need us to say no more from time to time.

Once we get everyone setup with Poker Chips the game commences and it usually takes about three or four hours for someone to win. In the meantime, we have a waitress who comes by and gets these Poker Players drinks, whether it be water, soda, or adult beverages from the bar. Yes, just like the casinos and the way we all look at it is if we’re going to lose money, we might as well lose it to each other instead of a casino.

Granted we have more than one Texas Holdem Poker Table With Dealer Slot because there are about 20-30 people that show up at times. This allows for regular poker games to be played as well. We’ve received all kinds of compliments regarding our tables because they are made with handcrafted hardwood, with a padded armrest around the table. Keeping everyone comfortable is important for a long evening but not hard with a Custom Poker Table like this.

Plus, there are nine cup holders where players can hold their drinks that are made of stainless steel with a beautiful polished finish. In fact, there are even benefits for the dealer that gives off a professional style. The table has an Aluminum Chip Tray that is lockable, a locking drop box, and a dealer drop slot for tips. Our dealers usually end up taking home close to $200 a night if we’re packed with friends and family.

The point is we bought these Texas Hold em’ Poker Tables to bring the casino home. Heck, the closest casino where we live is almost two hours away. So actually we are not only dispersing the money around to different people that we know personally, but we’re also saving them $50-$100 in gas money getting to the regular casino in the first place. Now all we need to do is get some HDTVs so we can offer people the opportunity to watch sports while they’re playing. However, the Texas Holdem Poker Table With Dealer Slot is enough to keep everyone happy.

By: Brian Garvin

About the Author:
