For many years, the traditional advice many professional blackjack players gave for dominating casinos was to count cards and increase your bet when the point count was in your advantage. However, times have changed and the rules have changed such as the use of multiple decks and shuffling machines, counting cards is nearly impossible online and in person. I advise you to not waste your time and money using this type of blackjack strategy.

If card counting systems are no good, how exactly do you win at blackjack? Picking up a basic blackjack basic strategy card chart will allow you to know exactly when to HIT, STAND, DOUBLE DOWN, etc…It will give you a huge edge over the house. The house will never have a 55% to 45% edge on you EVER AGAIN. Did you know if you have no black jack strategy in place at all the house has a automatic 55-45 edge over you right from the start because they act last and before it is even their turn, you could have already busted out in which they automatically win.

Great blackjack tips are hard to come by, but I am going to share with you all I know for absolutely FREE. Before you invest another penny in any real life casino blackjack game or online blackjack game, you need to play blackjack online for free until you get a grasp of the game. Before you will ever move any further in your blackjack career, you must memorize a black jack strategy chart showing you exactly what to do with your hand. This information will be used for the life of your blackjack career. How to count cards in black jack is definitely not something you want to do. You will fail over and over again, miserably. It will end up costing you thousands and thousands of dollars. Trust me, I was an accountant and excellent with numbers. I tried counting cards and it was nearly impossible. With so many decks and so many cards still out there, counting cards isn’t an option anymore in today’s blackjack world. Don’t waste your money on card counting software or trying to learn how to count cards. You will never be successful. Learning the blackjack rules and basic blackjack strategies will take you a long way in the blackjack profitable road. You will be driving down the road to riches in no time. The house will stand no chance against you both online and in person. Most people that play online think it is rigged. That is NOT true. It is good to play blackjack on multiple casinos though because it doesn’t allow the dealer to catch winning streaks. You can now establish a blackjack basic strategy table image in which other players will respect you. Find an online casino that you’re consistently winning on. Mixing in a great blackjack strategy with an online casino that doesn’t cheat people. I wish you the best of luck in your blackjack career and I hope you find a proven strategy to dominate the house consistently!

I personally recommend using the Red Seven or KO Count card counting systems. They are basic systems that perhaps are the second easiest to learn. By using an easy system you sacrifice some potential advantage. However, a simple system counted correctly is better than an advanced system played incorrectly. Plus, with a simply system you can play a fast paced game, playing more hands per hour. All statistical advantages require time to bear fruit, so the more hands you play the better.

So what is the easiest system? That is the Wizard Ace/Five count system. Be warned, it is easy but not for the faint of heart. It attempts to counter the accuracy loss by using large bet spread. Any card counter must increase his bet when the odds are in his favor in order to beat the house. The difference between the minimum wager (played when at a disadvantage) and the maximum wager (played when at the maximum statistical advantage) is the bet spread. The Wizard Ace/Five count has a maximum bet potentially as high as 38 times the minimum. That means if you a $10 minimum, you must be prepared to wager up to $380 on a single hand. You must also have the bankroll to support that high of a spread.

Card counters are normally identified by their bet spread. With such a large bet spread, you may think the Wizard Ace/Five count may quickly get you spotted as a counter. On the contrary, the Wizard Ace/Five system is so basic; you are unlikely to get identified as a counter.

In addition, the Wizard Ace/Five offers little advantage. The system can be used recreationally just to gain comps from sustained playing time, but will offer little value beyond that.

So what is the Wizard Ace/Five? The system uses only 2 point values. Any five card played is +1. Any ace played is minus one. That’s it. You keep a running count starting at 0 and looking for fives and aces only. In addition, there is no “true” count, so you do not need to divide the running count by the number of decks remaining. With a 75% penetration, stand on soft 17, late surrender and re-splitting aces you can get a 0.22% advantage using the recommended bet spread.

The five card is an important card because it will not bust the dealer hitting a 16 and makes a 17 out of 12. Therefore the five is important. The ace on the other is beneficial to the player. Ace and Shuffle tracking exist just to track aces.

Now the painful bet spread. You bet the minimum wager on any zero or negative running count. For a positive count, you bet 2 times the minimum times the running count. This can potentially lead to a spread of 38 times the minimum assuming a six deck shoe. If you were to assume that all fives were played (4 cards per deck and 6 decks per shoe) and no aces played, the highest bet could be 48 times the minimum (24 x 2). I have heard that in simulations of a billion hands, the spread never actually got higher than 38 times. You must bet the proper spread in order to take advantage of the positive signal. Reducing the bet spread reduces your edge. The average bet in simulation is 2 to 3 times the minimum wager.

Consistency. That Is the key to a betting strategy that is guaranteed to either help you win, or keep your money safe. In a tournament, there are so many people all playing for the same thing; all players watching the cards and the chips for the winning hand.

In traditional blackjack, the game starts off with two cards being dealt to each player, and also to the dealer. One of the cards dealt to the dealer is face up, while the other remains down. The idea of the game is that each player is playing individually against the dealer, so there may be no winners, or several winners at the table.

A tournament differs from this. The rounds are played in much the same way, where you try to bring your hand to 21 in any way possible, although it is easier to have a face card and an Ace in order to secure your win. In a tournament however, the players only play against each other, and the way to win the game is to have more chips in your pile after the last hand has been played.

So many players enter the tournaments with ambitious plans to win, and these are usually players who can back it up with years of experience or strategies of their own. It is also possible to lose on your first hand, so keeping chips back is a wise move to make when making your bets. The easiest way of knowing how many chips to bet is to count the chips on the table. This helps in knowing the medium bet to play that will be to your advantage. The only time you need the highest number of chips is in the last hand, and so obtaining the lead is easier than keeping it.

This is where being consistent with your bets comes in. Constantly altering the amount of chips you bet will draw attention to yourself, and also to how you play your blackjack game. This sort of attention will either be done to distract your playing, or simply to gain advantages over your hand. Counting the cards to determine how the odds will go is guaranteed to give you a better start in playing your hand. Betting according to how likely you are to win is a simple trick that many seasoned players use. For example, a low bet is necessary if the odds are against you, and a higher bet is advisable if it is more likely that you will win. However, it’s important to remember not to be too predictable either, as the players who are watching you will notice the larger movements you make in your strategies.

It could be beneficial to newer players to sit at a tournament table without entering just to watch the strategies employed by the experienced members of the casino. Developing your own way to play by learning the rules of each tournament, and learn from any mistakes you make.

Many people want to know exactly how to win at blackjack. To come up with a winning strategy isn’t easy, but once you find one that truly works you will be dominating the house in no time! The first thing you need to do is find the official blackjack rules on the internet, study them, and memorize them. Most players make the mistake of jumping right into a real money blackjack game without even KNOWING the rules! It happens everyday, at casinos all across the world and online. You need to pick up a blackjack cheat sheet and memorize it, along with all the black jack rules. It takes more than just knowing the rules to become a consistent winning blackjack player. I highly recommend downloading free downloadable blackjack or taking a virtual blackjack tutorial on how to play.

When playing blackjack for play money, you can test out your strategies and winning systems on a free blackjack table. There is no difference in playing for PLAY money or REAL money as far as the game play goes since you are not playing against real life people only a computer generated house. You can play for hours and hours completely free, losing all the free money you want. Once you are consistently beating the house for play money, then I suggest jumping right into REAL money.

21 blackjack is a game of using proven strategies and a blackjack strategy guide. Once you master the art of crushing the house every time, you can take your skill and knowledge to online blackjack or play the house at a local casino. You will eventually dominate the house each and every time winning over $100,000 just like I have been doing the past 15 years. It is such a great feeling walking away after each session with over 10K in your pocket.

Again, my advice to you is to play blackjack for free until you have a winning strategy in place. It is not easy to find a winning blackjack strategy. It took me over 5 years and cost me thousands and thousands of dollars to develop a blackjack strategy that works for me. The worst thing anyone could do is jump STRAIGHT into a real money situation without having the proper knowledge of the game. If you have done this without reading this blackjack article, please do not give up! This is one of the most profitable games of all online gambling games to choose from.

There is no reason why you can’t be a profitable player. The strategy guide for blackjack I have outlines step by step how to make you a winning player. It teaches you all the secrets to crushing the house on a daily basis. Go out there and make yourself the next pro blackjack player instantly! If you find the right strategy you will be constantly winning over 50 dollars an hour playing blackjack online and in person. Thank you again, for taking the time to read this!

A player can get good odds in a blackjack game depending on the rules of the game and the skill of the player. Assuming that a player used the correct basic strategy, a single deck game with Las Vegas Strip rules and double after splitting can actually give the player a 0.1% advantage.

In theory, blackjack can offer the player the best odds in the house. Players usually do not have to look hard to find a blackjack game with a high casino edge. The basic thing a player should know about blackjack odds is that you should never take a hit on 20 or 21, since 21 means blackjack and a guaranteed win. On the other hand, the worst blackjack game that a player might run into would be an 8-deck game with double on 10 and 11 only, dealer hits soft-17 and no re-splits. However, as long as naturals are paid at 3 to 2, this game is probably better than any other in the casino.

However, unlike craps, which requires only knowledge of where to place your bet, blackjack requires skill. You must know your basic strategy well, and should be willing to place more money on the table when called for in double-down and split situations. The continuous flow of inexperienced new players and players who refuse to follow basic strategy increases the casino’s advantage by 5% or so.

Blackjack odds are based on the percentage of times you would lose if you took a hit while holding that hand value. Although the effectiveness of blackjack odds is not proven, knowledge of blackjack odds can aid you in being a more educated player. However, if luck is on your side, you can hit that lucky twenty-one and would not have to consider any odds.

Card counting strategies range from fairly simple to absurdly complex. This article provides instructions on creating a card counting strategy and in doing so describes the various characteristics of counting systems. It may be of interest even if you don’t wish to create a strategy but want to learn about the make-up of such systems.

Creating a new strategy is not difficult if you start with an existing strategy. If you wish to start from scratch there is a bit more work. There are plenty of strategies in the books. But, many people do like to at least modify a current strategy to better fit their needs.

Card Counting Tools

The following tools are needed:

Efficiency Calculator – Tells you how efficient a particular count is Index Generator – To create new playing indexes Simulator – To fine-tune and measure the effectiveness of the new strategy
Card Counting Tag Values

First you need to settle on the card point values. If you have already done this, you can skip to the Index Generation section. Although reading this section may add to your understanding. Each card has a point value like +1 or -1. There are several characteristics of counts as follows:
True Count vs. Running Count – As cards are seen, you keep a running sum of the card tag values. Running Count systems use this count for both betting and playing decisions. True Count systems require that you divide the RC by a number representing the number of cards that have been seen. There are various methods of converting RC to TC (e.g. division, multiplication, tables.) TC systems generally use this TC for all playing decisions. Most also use it for betting decisions. There are exceptions to both of these rules. RC strategies are generally easier to use and TC strategies are generally more accurate. Balanced vs. Unbalanced – In a balanced strategy, all of the point values sum to zero. In an unbalanced strategy, the sum of all the cards is positive. Unbalanced strategies have an advantage because they can be used in the easier running count systems. Although they can also be used in TC systems. Balanced strategies have an advantage in that they are generally a bit more accurate (there are exceptions) and the count hovers around zero making counting easier and betting strategies easier. Ace-Reckoned vs. Ace-Neutral – Generally the Ace is counted as a negative number (Ace-reckoned) or zero (Ace-neutral.) Ace-Reckoned strategies are generally better for shoe games and Ace-Neutral strategies are generally better for single and double deck. (Not always true.) There are compromise strategies (e.g. Zen, UBZ II) where the Ace is counted at half of the normal value. This is particularly good for double-deck and not bad for single deck or shoes. These days, Ace-reckoned strategies are more popular. Level – The level of a strategy refers to the highest value assigned to cards. Level 2 and 3 card counting methods are more efficient, but quite a bit more difficult for most people. Level 3, 4 & 5 strategies also exist. But this is overkill. The most popular strategies these days are level 1. In a level 1 strategy, tens are counted as -1 and some or all low cards are counted as +1. Side Counts – Some strategies use one or more side counts. The most common is counting the Aces in a separate count to make betting more accurate in Ace-neutral systems. This is because Aces are large cards for the purposes of betting but small cards for the purposes of playing when you don’t have a Blackjack. Suit/Color Aware Counts – Some count will have different tag values for red and black cards. Examples are Red7 & KISS. The attempt here is to gain most of the advantage of a higher level strategy without the higher range of counts. I would expect the error rate would increase somewhat but have no figures for this. Other ease of use considerations – The fewer the number of cards counted the easier the count. Also, the more card pairs that add to zero the better. This is because most counters count pairs of cards when possible. If you see a +1 and a -1 card at the same time, you automatically ignore them since they sum to zero.
Now, how do we decide on the card tag values? First you need to decide on the above characteristics. Second, it is good to take a look at the popular strategies that exist. Next, you need to understand Betting Correlation, Playing Efficiency and Insurance Correlation. These are terms created by Peter Griffin in Theory of Blackjack. Reading this book will help you a great deal. These terms are defined as:
Playing Efficiency – PE indicates how well a card counting system handles changes in playing strategy. Playing efficiency is particularly important in hand-held games (one or two decks.) Betting Correlation – BC is defined as the correlation between card point values and the effect of removal of cards. It is used to predict how well a card counting system predicts good betting situations and can approach 1.00 (100% correlation.) BC is particularly important in shoe games (six or eight decks.) Insurance Correlation – IC is defined as the correlation between card point values and the value of cards in Insurance situation. A point value of -9 for tens and +4 for all other cards would be perfect for predicting if an Insurance bet should be placed.

Index Generation

Once you have your card values, you need to generate indexes. First, you need to make a few general decisions:
Initial Running Count – The IRC is the count you start with after a shuffle. Balanced strategies nearly always have an IRC of zero. This causes the count to hover around zero. A few people start with a higher number because they don’t like to count negative numbers. This has no effect on the efficiency of a strategy. Unbalanced strategies usually have negative IRC’s. This is because the count rises as the shoe is played. The IRC is often set so that there is an advantage after the count becomes positive. Also, different IRC’s are generally used for different numbers of decks. This is not necessary; but makes it easier to remember playing and betting decisions since the count has to rise significantly farther for shoes than for single-deck. Some people use zero for unbalanced IRC’s to avoid large negative numbers. True Count Calculation – You need to decide how to convert the running count to the true count if your strategy uses True Count decisions. The most common methods are to divide by the number of full decks or half decks remaining. There is little difference in overall effectiveness. Full-deck is slightly better for betting and half-deck is slightly better for playing. HiLo Lite and the 1998 version of Zen divide by quarter-decks remaining. This makes betting a bit easier; but a bit less accurate. (You can see this explained in Blackbelt in Blackjack by Arnold Snyder when the next version is printed. It is currently out of print.) Some people use multiplication instead of division. Another method is to use a table of True Counts by shoe depth and running count. This is described in Blackjack Bluebook II by Fred Renzey. Rounding/Truncating/Flooring – Nearly everyone uses integer index values for playing decisions. So, how do you round the true count after division? It doesn’t matter greatly as long as you use the same method for play and index generation. But, Flooring is currently preferred. That is, if there is a fraction, round down to the next lower value. Which indexes – In older strategies huge numbers of indexes were used. But, most indexes have very little value. You can find a discussion on this subject in Blackjack Attack by Don Schlesinger. (You should read this book for many other reasons.) See the discussion on Illustrious 18 and Catch-22. Theory of Blackjack also has a discussion on the value of indexes. But, it is concerned primarily with single-deck and doesn’t take into account the frequency of decisions. Risk-Averse vs. Expectation Maximizing Indexes – Older strategies generally used expectation maximizing indexes. (There are exceptions.) Such indexes result in decisions that give the greatest average gain for each bet. But, this is not always the best bet as the gain is so small in some cases it may not be worth the extra risk as in close doubling down decisions. Risk-Averse indexes reduce the risk which reduces the variance which allows you to slightly increase your betting levels. This provides a slight overall improvement in results. RA Indexes are now preferred since they perform a bit better with no extra effort. Blackjack Attack contains a discussion on RA indexes. Index Compromises – Older strategies used the best possible indexes they could calculate at the time. Some newer strategies make compromises for ease of use. For example, the double down indexes for 9 vs. 2 and 9 vs. 7 may not be the same; but they are so close you can compromise and make them the same. This makes them easier to remember and use. If you wish to use compromise indexes; you will need to first generate the correct indexes using an index generator and then use trial and error with simulations to test various compromises. Red7, HiLo Lite, Basic Omega II and 1998 Zen use compromise indexes. Rules Compromises – Stand on 17 vs. Hit on 17, Multi-deck vs. Single-deck, Double after Split vs. no DAS. These all affect indexes. You need to decide if you want to go through the effort of using different indexes or determining what games you will most often play and just use those indexes. Or, compromise by using indexes that are in-between. Composition Dependent indexes – These are indexes that look at the exact composition of your hand (8, 6, 2 vs. 10) instead of the total of the hand (16 vs. 10.) They add slightly to system effectiveness. But, few people use them. Multi-Parameter Indexes – These are used along with side-counts to improve playing decisions. MP Index Tables are rarely used today.
Once you have created the indexes, you will want to run sims with different rules and penetrations to test your system. The best method of evaluating the overall strength of a strategy is by the SCORE as described in Blackjack Attack.

Hints and Tips
Read The Theory of Blackjack by Peter Griffin. Particularly chapters 3 and 4 as they will explain the value of card tags and indexes.
Some strategies use compromise indexes. Hi-Lo Lite and Red 7 are examples. These are indexes that are changed so that many decisions use the same index. To create these, generate the accurate indexes first and then run sims with different indexes to see which ones can be changed without impacting overall SCORE. These sims must be over two billion rounds.
Indexes do not make a huge difference in shoe games. The more decks, the less value you get out of accurate indexes.
The gain from using risk-averse indexes is really quite small. But, there is no downside.
To accurately calculate the SCORE, you must use an optimal betting ramp.
Some Split indexes are very strange. Splitting or not splitting goes back and forth as the count changes. This is because they are both offensive and defensive. That is, sometimes you split to make more money and sometimes you split to lose less money. 2, 2 v 3 or 3, 3, v 7 for example. It really doesn’t matter much what you do with these hands.
Indexes can change as the penetration changes. This is particularly true with unbalanced strategies, but also true with balanced strategies.

Playing black jack online can be one of the most profitable games you will ever play. Most people never learn how to consistently dominate the house and make a stable income is, they are too lazy to learn the blackjack rules and exactly how the game is played. Bringing down the house seems hard, but using a proven blackjack strategy you can be on your way to making a consistent profitable income in no time.

What exactly is the secret to making a profit against the house?

Patience and using a blackjack basic strategy charts systems along with an easy to follow step by step way of betting against the house. This information is hard to come by, but once you find it you will be rolling in the dough. For me, it all started 20 years ago when I first stepped into a real live casino. I was horrible; I constantly got crushed by the house, losing hundreds of dollars a day. I grew up in Las Vegas so it was easy to just wake up and begin my day looking at the blackjack table layout. It was extremely fun and exciting, even though I was losing. I wanted to make it more exciting and eventually give up my day job as an accountant. I was good with numbers and with that was the ability to count cards. I thought a blackjack counting cards strategy would be the best thing for me. I quickly learned that this strategy DID NOT work and cost me tons of money. My problem was, I never took time to really study the game of blackjack. I hopped right into real money situations without even playing blackjack games online for free. If I could go back in time, I would have consistently played black jack games online for free until I got the hang of winning with real money.

My secret was memorizing a black jack strategy sheet that completely explained when to STAY, HIT, STAND, SPLIT, BUY INSURANCE, etc… Once I learned all the basic blackjack strategies I was already becoming a more profitable player. I began to really understand the game instead of just jumping in and blowing all my money. You can buy tons of card counting software out there, it just isn’t worth it. I wasted at least 1000 bucks testing out all different blackjack strategies until I finally came up with my own. I have been profiting for years playing blackjack online and in person using my own strategy. I recently retired because of all my winnings and I am living a healthy life, debt free all thanks to blackjack. Have you ever been to the foxwoods hotels? This is one of the first places I began my gambling career. You should make it there one day in your lifetime. In whatever you decide to do and however you decide to play black jack, I wish you the best of luck! It is a fun and exciting game, why not make it profitable at the same time also?

The basic essence of the game of blackjack was woven into the psyche of the majority of us by the time we hit our early teens. As children we saw our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles gather around a large table in the recreation room shortly after holiday meal. We observed them involved in a game in which the object was to get closer than the dealer to a total of “21″ with a hand of cards. The adults in our family would play and laugh and reminisce for hours. So, naturally, as kids we tried to emulate our parents. Therefore, in the next room, we would play our version of “21′ or, as we grew older, blackjack as it was called.

As we went through high school and on to college, we fell in love with the game of blackjack once again. Only, this time we weren’t trying to emulate adults; we were attempting to outsmart the system by devising strategies to effectively cope with any blackjack card combination dilemma that might come our way. We would practice on ourselves, and then put our theories to the litmus test at the casino parlor blackjack table.

Tips for Blackjack Play

The basic blackjack strategy is designed for a set protocol of operation if your two cards are a certain total and the dealer’s show card is a certain number. If your two card total is:

5, 6, 7 or 8 — Hit no matter the dealer’s card.

9 — Double your bet (if allowable by casino rules) if dealer has 3-6; otherwise, hit.

10, 11 — Double your bet if dealer has a 2 through 9; otherwise, hit.

12 — Hit if dealer has a 2 or 3; stand if the dealer has a 4, 5 or 6; hit 7 and above.

13, 14, 15, 16–Hit 7 and above; stand if dealer has a 2 through 6.

17 and above– Stand pat with your hand.

Don’t Waste Your Time

If you take the basic tips for playing blackjack and utilize them in play, the chances are very good that you will be maximizing your playing time in terms of giving yourself the best opportunity to win every game you play.

There are some fallacies about the game of blackjack, sort of blackjack tips to avoid:

1. If I follow a given strategy, I will win money at blackjack-No, not true. The percentage is .05 in the casino’s favor, whether its on land or online

2. I can win at blackjack over the long stretch of time-No, you have a better shot over a short period of time. The odds favor the casino in the long run.

3. I can only have fun if I win-No, that is not true. Blackjack is a game that is meant to be enjoyed. If we bet with our heads and not over it, we’ll find our experience at the blackjack table fun and enjoyable whether or not we win money.

These blackjack tips are not foolproof, but they set a certain standard of respectful play for both ourselves and for our fellow players, both on land and in online casino parlors.

One of the better and more successful systems of attempting to beat blackjack is in the Labouchere system. While not as well known as more widely used and talked about betting systems such as the Martingale betting system or card counting, as far as it’s effectiveness and ease of use is concerned, it lies somewhere between both of those aforementioned strategies.

Labouchere uses a very simple mathematical principle to work, however when it is first explained, many people can have a little bit of a problem understanding it so I’ll make it sound as simple as I possibly can.

The first thing you need to do is to decide exactly how much money you wish to make in a single betting session. Although you may instantly want to say “$1,000!” or something like that, especially the first time you use it, you should always select a low number so you get to grips with the game.

Let’s say that we’ve decided we wish to win $30. What we do is to generate a string of positive numbers (meaning no negatives like -9 or 0) that add up to the amount we wish to win. These can be absolutely any numbers at all, just as long as they add up to 30 in this case. So your string of numbers may look like this:

4, 1, 1, 2, 2, 7, 3, 2, 1, 4, 1, 2

But remember, it doesn’t have to be exactly these numbers at all, it can be any combination you like.

Now to begin betting, you simply take the two numbers from each end of the number line, add them together and then bet that exact amount on the next hand. So in this case, we would add 4 and 2 to make 6, which means we would then bet $6.

If we win, we take our winnings and cross those two numbers out. We then add the next two outside numbers together and bet again. If we win, we continue as normal.

If we lose on the other hand, we would take the amount that we just bet, add it to the end of the line and then continue on again. So just say we lost on the first hand, we would add the number 6 to the end of the line making our line look like this:

4, 1, 1, 2, 2, 7, 3, 2, 1, 4, 1, 2, 6

You then continue as normal and bet the outside two numbers. Once you’ve reached the end and all your numbers have been crossed off, you would have then made the amount you set out to make. Sounds great right? Well, Labouchere does have its limits as well.

You see, if you happen to have an immense losing streak (which can happen) you may find that you’re betting higher than the table limit will allow. In this case it would mean you had suffered an unrecoverable loss and lost quite a bit of money.

Like the Martingale system, Labouchere has its limits in Blackjack as well so is not the most ideal product out there. There are better blackjack beating systems online and you should be able to find one without too much effort!

Wagering and Bankroll play an important roll in card counting. First, a card counter knows he must raise his bet when the odds are in his favor. Second, a counter must have a large enough bankroll to weather a losing streak. Remember a statistical advantage is only evident in the long term. Short term you can lose and often do.

Bankroll.
Your bankroll is the starting amount of money you sit down to play blackjack with. Generally, the minimum bet (and therefore the maximum bet) is determined by the bankroll. Again, you must have sufficient funds to continue through a losing streak.

An average minimum wager is your total bankroll divided by 150. Thus a $3000 bankroll would indicate a $20 minimum bet. This is just less than 1% of the bankroll. For slightly more aggressive wager, set the minimum to 1%. Thus $3000 bankroll yields a $30 minimum bet.

Bet Spread.
A card counter must increase his wager when the odds favor him. When the odds are not in his favor, he wagers the minimum bet (or leaves the table). In a typical 5 deck shoe, a wager of 8 times the minimum bet is recommended. You must wager enough to recuperate the loses sustained while betting the table minimum. I personally like to see a 10 times increase. So if your minimum bet is $20, your maximum should be $200.

Another common wagering tactic is to bet proportional to the count. For example, you would want to wager more on a +5 count versus a +1 count. You can use the table below as a guide to staggering the high wager. Note that the amount you increase from the minimum wager depends on the number of decks used.
